Education pathways in Austria

In Austria a Lehre (apprenticeship) in clothing design is a practical way in. If you want to design fashion, you can study at an arts university after the Matura (school-leaving exam); there is an entrance exam with your own portfolio. In Germany the equivalent is the Duale Ausbildung or a university degree, in Switzerland the Berufslehre (EFZ) or a degree at a university or ETH.

Academic degree: bachelor, master or diploma. 3 to 6 years
